Our intelligence, personality development, and ways of acting is generally portrayed as either rooted in nature or nurture. We inherit capabilities, vulnerabilities and talents, often as predispositions, while at the same time becoming the product of impressions from our environment while growing up. However, is this all there is to understanding human nature? Or is there more? I believe we are missing a fundamental piece of the psychic puzzle. In fact, it is arguably the critical part in shaping our mind. Only when fully comprehending this typically human faculty can we start to oversee our inner workings.
